ملخص عن محتوى المقال


يتحدث المقال عن المشاهد اللغوية، وتفسير المشهد اللغوى للاندرى وبورهيس Landry and Bourhis وهو ظهور كتابة بلغات محددة على اللافتات في أقاليم أو مناطق معينة، نتيجة لتأثيرات نابعة من لغات مختلفة. ويطرح الكاتب مفهوما مختلفا لهذا التفسير وكيفية تأثر المشهد بتلك اللغات. 
ثم يتطرق المقال لكيفية تتبع المشهد اللغوى وتأثر سكان بعض المناطق والدول بلغات سكانها الأصليين أو الوافدين والطريقة الأفضل لفهم التاريخ اللغوى.
وأيضا يأتي بأمثلة لتأثير بعض اللغات في مناطق مختلفة قديما وكيفية انتقال هذه اللغات أو كلمات محددة منها إلى العديد من المجتمعات حاليا.
وبعد ذلك يتحول الكاتب إلى عرض تطبيقى محدد على المشهد اللغوى ليبدأ في الأندلس وينتهى فى جزر الكنارى وأمريكا.

Paisajes Lingüísticos Del Yemen a San Antonio
Resumen
Frente al concepto limitado de paisaje lingüístico que se está manejando en la bibliografía reciente y que consiste, básicamente, en registrar la presencia de escritos en lenguas o variantes (registros) diferentes de la lengua usual de la comunidad, en este artículo se presenta otro concepto de paisaje lingüístico. Lo que importa es la influencia de las lenguas en el paisaje, es decir, cómo el paisaje puede acabar reflejando las lenguas que hablan los pobladores de una región. Las preguntas posibles son muchas, por ejemplo, limitándose a dos, si se puede hablar de un "estado latente" del paisaje o cuáles son los elementos manejables para estructurar la visión diacrónica del paisaje lingüístico. La Península Ibérica en la Edad Media es, por su riqueza lingüística y la variedad geográfica, un lugar muy conveniente para estudiar este peculiar aspecto de los contactos entre las lenguas, los hablantes y el planeta.

Linguistic Landscapes from Yemen to San Antonio
Abstract
Current literature uses the concept of “linguistic landscape” with a limited sense. It is mostly restricted to the presence of writings (graffiti in many cases) in languages or dialects different from the most common language of the area. This paper offers another perspective. Its goal is the influence of languages in the landscape, i.e. how landscapes may reflect the languages spoken by the inhabitants of that region. Two salient questions might be whether it is possible to speak of a silent state of landscapes, or which elements can be handled when structuring the diachronic view of linguistic landscapes. Medieval Iberia offers great linguistic richness and remarkable geographic variety. It so becomes a very convenient scenario for the study of those contacts among languages, their speakers, and the planet.
